People with GoPro Hero4 HD cameras will soon be able to record incredible slow mode video at 240 fps when new camera firmware is released.

Engadget got an exclusive sneak preview of video shot on cameras with upgraded firmware, and it looks super dramatic as skiers carve around obstacles, or as snowboarders grab air. The upgrade will unlock 720 HD video at 240 frames per second.

GoPro also says the new firmware will allow the Hero 4 camera to record 2.7K video at 60 fps, which is ideal for post-production when editors want to apply image stabilization effects or crop down the shots.
